Year 1 Visit to St Andrew’s ChurchWednesday 22nd MarchWe were met at the church by Miss Lodge and the vicar from Woodhouse Close church Revd Brenda Jones. The children were astonished at the size and the height of the church as well as the beautiful stained glass windows. Revd Brenda explained to the children that vicars go to college and learn about God. She then showed them the clothes that they wear and explained the different coloured stoles and the reasons why they are worn at different times of the year. Some of the children were lucky enough to try on some of the clothes........................................ The PDF file below outlines the rest of the wonderful time Year 1 spent in St Andrew's Church

During Design Technology Week Year 6 pupils each made their own bird box for a small bird to nest in. This meant measuring, marking, sawing, drilling, nailing and stapling various pieces of wood together. They followed a design template for the construction of the bird boxes and took photos to incorporate into a set of instructions they are designing and producing in ICT. The overall results were superb and everyone enjoyed making the bird boxes which the children will be putting up at Witton Castle Lakes on their visit there on March 20th.Mr D MacInnes
